Non Surgical Buttock Shaping, Buttock Augmentation is a procedure aimed to improve the fullness, contour and enhance the appearance of the buttocks, using injectable Macrolane. Many patients express concerns about anaesthesia, implants, and the risks of surgery.
Macrolane, produced by the makers of Restylane, is a non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid specifically formulated for Breast and Body Shaping using a Non Surgical technique.
Q: What is Non Surgical Buttock Shaping?
A: Macrolane is a smooth, pure, crystal clear non-animal hyaluronic gel which provides long lasting volume reshaping of the buttocks. Macrolane is specifically formulated for the body and breast ensuring that the product does not migrate and feels soft and natural.
Q: What size increase can I obtain with Macrolane Buttock Shaping?
A: The maximum volume of Macrolane recommended is about 250cc in each buttock. The size you are able to achieve will depend on your tissues and desire.
Q: Am I suitable for Macrolane Buttock Shaping?
A: If you would like to improve your buttock shape and fullness, while avoiding surgery, are generally healthy, with no significant drooping (ptosis) of your buttocks or skin laxity, then Macrolane Buttock Shaping may be a good option for you. A detailed assessment can only be carried out at the time of a thorough Consultation.
Q: How is the treatment performed?
A: Initial consultation will determine the goals of treatment and make note of any associated abnormalities or asymmetry and plan the optimum treatment to achieve the ideal result in each patient. Treatment is carried out in the out-patient setting and takes 30 – 40 minutes. A local anaesthetic injection is used to ensure that the treatment is as comfortable as possible. A small incision (2-3mm) is made in the cleft of the buttocks, the Macrolane is injected using a thin cannula above the muscle. Approximately 200cc – 250cc can be injected into each side to reshape the buttocks to the desired result. A short course of antibiotics will be prescribed.
Q: Will the treatment be painful / cause bruising?
A: Minimal discomfort is expected during the treatment and no bruising should occur with the careful techniques used. Any mild bruising will usually resolve after 1 week. Your buttocks may feel tender – moderate discomfort for the first 3 – 5 days. Mild discomfort is expected for 2 weeks.
Q: When will results be seen?
A: Improvement in buttock shape and fullness will be seen immediately following treatment. Any swelling will resolve in 2 weeks, but return to normal feeling from 4 – 6 weeks.
Q: How long will the result last?
A: Macrolane releases hyaluronic acid gradually over a period of time, therefore the improvement in the buttock shape and fullness is expected to last from 12 – 18 months. However, repeat treatments are recommended every 9 – 12 months to maintain the buttock shape as desired. Very uncommonly early breakdown of Macrolane can occur within 6 months.
Q: What are the side effects or risks?
A: Mild discomfort, swelling and bruising can occur. Some scarring around the Macrolane can occur producing a capsule. If the capsule becomes firm giving the feeling of a lump, further treatment may be recommended to alleviate this. Infection is rare (
Q: When will I be able to return to normal activities?
[A]Restricted activities are advised for 3 weeks following treatment with Macrolane Buttocks. Wearing a support garment is recommended for the first 2 weeks day and night, then during the day for a further 2 week. We advise that you wear a support garment during any physical activity following your Macrolane Buttock Treatment.
